Pop Warner Cheerleading Competition

Pop Warner cheerleaders who participate in the Pop Warner cheerleading competition every year are not like your ordinary cheerleader who is just good at cheering. They are outstanding scholars as well as participating at cheer activities – and it doesn’t end there. Let’s find out what a Pop Warner cheerleader is really all about and why you should be one too!

The nonprofit organization Pop Warner Little Scholars (PWLS) brings cheer programs in 42 states and more than a few countries from all over the globe and organizes the Pop Warner cheerleading competition. It was founded back in 1929 and it also provides dance and football programs for young athletes. PWLS is said to be the biggest dance, cheer and football program within the US, gathering about 400,000 young athletes aged between 5 and 16.

After its establishment, the organization grew and required all participants to maintain required academic standards in order to qualify. Since most programs don’t imply any academic standards, this separates PWLS from other programs worldwide and makes it one of the best sports program for young athletes. Pop Warner cheerleadera are unique!

The Pop Warner Cheerleaders Philosophy – School and Sports

PWLS believes that school knowledge and academics go hand in hand with athletic accomplishments. Thus the Pop Warner Little Scholars organization strives to help young people develop and grow both on the field and sport performances and off, with regard to their academic knowledge. By each year, this organization expands within the community and increases its visibility in order to reach youngsters and help them succeed with their sports passion.

Pop Warner believes that being a cheerleader isn’t the only thing that’s important for a young man or woman. Apart from learning the basics and insides and learning to become the best in a competitive environment, PWLS also offers them the possibility of having fun with good results in school for a brighter future.

Growing as a Young Pop Warner Cheerleader with PWLS

The Pop Warner Little Scholars nonprofit organization focuses on offering young people the opportunity to grow, develop and learn in an environment that’s both structured and safe. The organization strives to teach participants values that are fundamental in life, knowledge that they will need one day and skills that will set them apart from the rest.

Through its programs and championships, such as the Pop Warner cheerleading competition, PWLS brings a safe, fun, competitive and opportunistic environment for children and young people who are constantly reminded about the importance of good academic results. Cheerleaders who participate in Pop Warner competitions and programs are always one step ahead of other cheerleaders.

PWLS Mission and Objectives

Irrespectively of race, origins, creed and ideals, the Pop Warner Little Scholars is inspiring young Pop Warner cheerleaders ever since 1929. This nonprofit organization encourages young people to engage in fun activities such as cheerleading, dance and football, while also ensuring a safe and positive environment for all children.

Apart from inspiring and educating children in sportsmanship, with the help of the PWLS young cheerleaders also learn to value team work and gain understanding with regard to ‘working hard’ not only in the field, cheering, but also in the class room. Pop Warner does not rely on tryouts or cutting of roosters, but it does require every participant to obey the rules, whereas awards for individual members are solely given away for excellent academic results, and not for good performance on the field.

In order to provide a safe environment for all participants, the PWLS requires mandatory equipment to be worn and also provides risk management training for young people and coaching clinics.
